About Us

Sheena has performed across the United States and Europe, such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, KKL Luzern Concert Hall (Switzerland), Salle Pleyel (Paris), and König Albert Theater (Germany). As a European Union Youth Orchestra member, she performed in festivals such as the Young Euro Classic, Rheingau Music Festival, Bolzano Festival Bozen, Stresa Festival, Ravello Festival, and Edinburgh International Festival, among others.

Sheena earned her Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of Rictor Noren. She continued her studies with Charles Castleman at the University of Miami, earning a Master of Music Degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts in 2021. Her dissertation, "Gender Bias Among the Big Five Orchestras - As Illustrated in Hiring Practices of Women Instrumentalists," was approved by world-renowned committee members: Charles Castleman, Jennifer Grim, Valerie Coleman, and Gerard Schwarz.

Beyond her many accomplishments, what truly sets Sheena apart is her unwavering passion and dedication to her craft, whether as an educator, violinist, or arts administrator. Her ability to inspire and empower others is a testament to her exceptional talent and leadership. With her husband and beloved 110-pound yellow lab by her side, Sheena resides in Miami and continues to make an indelible mark on the world of classical music and beyond.

Upon receiving a BM at the New England Conservatory of Music and MM at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Stepan has been avid about performing his solo repertoire and expanding chamber repertoire knowledge. Stepan is touring the United States with Sheena Gutierrez as Sotto Amore Duo. It is their mission to bring the music of Piazzolla, Brahms, Beethoven, Shumann, and contemporary composers to audiences worldwide.

His passion of music has ignited interest in collaborating with many composers of new music in Boston, Miami, and San Francisco. The aim is to make new music more accessible to the listeners and give new composers ability to touch people’s hearts and minds with music that have never been seen or heard before.

    • This duo not only makes beautiful artistic music together, but also they are a well-prepared and charismatic couple. I was very impressed with their passion and musical talents. This couple, both still in college, continues to present programs to promote the love of music for all ages.

Sandra Walsh-Moore, President, Classical Virtuosi of Miami (CVM)
    • Their musicianship, skill, and sensitive interpretation of classical masterpieces is stunning, as is their synergy; their uncanny timing, and their seeming ability to read one another’s minds (as if they were the same instrumentalist), is magical.

      Dr. Matthew McConnell, Composer
    • The featured performers made a striking couple and performed to match. The program consisted mainly of familiar pieces that contain some of the best-loved melodies in all of music, melodies that were beautifully spun by the duo.

David Hursh, Head Music Librarian at ECU
    • Violinist Sheena Gutierrez and pianist Stepan Rudenko were as engaging personally with the audience as they were musically. ... they drew the audience into the moment with them and melted away any formal distance between the stage and the audience.

      Martin Schreiner, Composer
